Part-Time Barista/Retail Part-time
We are hiring for a Barista/Retail staff person with at least one year experience for the Red Chair Café, located in the Sorenson Arts and Education Complex on the University of Utah campus. The job entails, but is not limited to, preparation of coffee, espresso, and other cold and hot drinks to order. Thorough knowledge of coffee, espresso and ability to properly heat and texturize milk along with use of espresso machines and grinders is required. The ability to operate a POS system and handle cash is a must. Along with beverages, retail staff and baristas are also required to assist with serving soups, heating and toasting ready-made sandwiches, helping customers, and expediting food and beverages. Must have the ability to follow directions and work in a concise and timely manner. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closed weekends and University holidays. Barista/retail hours will be between 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays. Staff will assist in cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen, grills, dishes, espresso machine, floors, counters, display case and lobby area.

Employees must be willing and passionate to learn coffee and food education to pass on to our customers.
Job includes daily opening and closing procedures, deep cleaning, washing dishes, constant stocking and the ability to prioritize.
Attend monthly employee meetings and education workshops.
Ability to step in and help out as needed covering shifts.
Clear communication within the team and with your manager is desired and expected.
Must possess fast-paced multitasking abilities and skills.
Employees need to be motivated, self-disciplined and work as a team.
Must have the ability to handle multiple priorities and problem solve.

Employees are expected to follow recycling and composting procedures.
Applicant must have the ability to lift at least 25 to 50 lbs on a daily basis.
Basic computer technical skills are required.
Must have a current Food Handlers Permit.
